Madrid, March 26, 2025.
Under the slogan "Brands that Spark Passions," the Riyadh Air Metropolitan Stadium hosted this Tuesday the official presentation of the Franchise Innovation Summit (FIS 2025), the key event for the franchise sector that will bring together more than 120 growing brands and 3,000 entrepreneurs, freelancers, business owners, franchisees, multi-franchisees, and investors on October 15 and 16 of this year.
The event featured an institutional opening by the Spanish Franchise Association (AEF), the promoter of FIS, through its president, Luisa Masuet, who emphasized that "FIS 2025 will bring together very high-level franchisees, entrepreneurs, investors, and multi-franchisees, guaranteeing expansion opportunities for brands. It highlighted the strength of the franchise model, as well as the wide variety of businesses and activities of both established brands in the market and new emerging concepts for both B2B and B2C within the franchise model."
Mª Eugenia López, Head of Specialized Business at BBVA, spoke, emphasizing that "our financial institution, once again, is committed to FIS as a tool to continue promoting entrepreneurial activity through the franchise model, as the main sponsor of FIS2025, promoting the event and its content."

The official presentation session was the setting for introducing the FIS 2025 Organizing Committee, composed of the following companies: Eroski, Provalliance, La Mafia se Sienta a la Mesa, Grupo La Despensa, Mobalpa, Comess Group, Midas, Food Delivery Brands, Carrefour, Anytime Fitness, Alsea, Carmila, and FoodBox. A perfect representation of leading brands in different sectors.
Some members of the Organizing Committee participated in a roundtable discussion led by Eduardo Abadía, Executive Director of the AEF. Among the topics discussed were sector challenges, the franchisee profile of the coming years, and the role of artificial intelligence in retail.
Eduardo Abadía stated that "FIS 2025 is the sector's biggest event, where at the AEF we are building a platform that connects franchises, entrepreneurs, investors, CEOs, franchise ecosystem professionals, and experts in an exclusive space for networking, innovation, and business opportunities, combining a showroom of expanding brands with a Summit of trends that will shape the future of the sector."
Among the shared opinions on current challenges and opportunities, FoodBox's development director, Nacho Poblaciones, emphasized "the sector's good present and bright future," a point echoed by the other panelists. Meanwhile, Belén Mahiques, expansion director at Provalliance, emphasized "the sweet spot for the franchise model in times of economic uncertainty, due to the support that comes with having a consolidated brand behind it."
Javier Salas, expansion director of La Mafia se Sienta a la Mesa, spoke of the need to professionalize franchisees, to which Iván Martín, franchise director of Telepizza, added that "the franchisee must have a good foundation and we have to wait until we find the right one." Finally, Joaquín Martínez, of Grupo La Despensa, wanted to highlight FIS "as a great opportunity for us, for the franchises, and, above all, for future franchisees."
